Meet the Family: Angie
It's Meet the Family Friday! Today, we spotlight board member Angie for celebrating 2 years on the Upward Scholars Board of Directors! 🥳
Angie is a proud Latina from the San JoaquÃn Valley. She co-chairs the Fund Development & Marketing Committee and is an integral member of the Marketing & Communications Working Group. On the board, Angie brings her experience in marketing and business development to support Upward Scholars’ mission of unlocking educational opportunities for our underserved communities.
As for the staff and many of her colleagues, this work is personal to Angie. She says, "Seeing the opportunities that were not afforded to my parents growing up, I want to give back to this rich and diverse community of adult immigrants who are looking to better their lives not only for themselves but for their children as well. Having joined the board during the pandemic, I have seen first-hand the tremendous impact that Upward Scholars has had on the lives of many of our students not just academically but emotionally as well. This organization is focused on the whole student, understanding that success means helping our immigrant students navigate the challenges that life presents to stay the course and achieve their academic and career development goals."
