Empowering low-income adults to prosper through education

Our mission at Upward Scholars is to empower low-income adults, mostly immigrants, by providing them financial assistance, academic support, and community support so they can continue their education, get better jobs, and serve as role models and advocates for their children.

What We Do

Upward Scholars helps low-income adults, mostly immigrants, overcome the financial and academic barriers that limit their success. We provide financial assistance to cover students' textbooks and transportation to college, laptops, tutors, mentors, and additional support services.

Our Impact

Upward Scholars enables low-income adults to continue their education, get better jobs, and serve as role models and advocates for their children.

How You Can Help

Upward Scholars depends on community support. We need tutors and mentors to work with students one-on-one and volunteers to practice English with students at Conversation Club.

Upward Scholars pays for my books which cost hundreds of dollars a semester. Before I had a car, they paid for my bus and they bought me a laptop so I can take online classes…I am in this country alone. Upward Scholars is like my family. They support me and encourage me and help me believe in myself.
