Meet the Family: Eric

In honor of April being National Volunteer and Financial Literacy Month, we are pleased to introduce Eric Takaha, Upward Scholars' Board Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee! Eric is a Bay Area native. He was born and raised in San Mateo and stayed to pursue higher education, first at UC Berkeley and then at Stanford University.

Eric brings a wealth of financial and investment experience to our organization, and his passion for protecting and maximizing our financial resources is second to none. As Board Treasurer, he plays a vital role in ensuring that Upward Scholars can carry out our mission of supporting educational opportunities for immigrants in the Bay Area.

While neither of Eric's parents was college educated, they instilled in him a deep appreciation for education. Eric firmly believes that the ability to pursue higher education is the key to unlocking both personal and societal opportunities for adult immigrants, and he is proud to be a part of an organization with such a meaningful impact in the Bay Area.

Since joining our Board during the pandemic, Eric has been blown away by the incredible work Upward Scholars does and the impact we have in the community. He's committed to continuing his financial work with us and can't wait to see more success stories of local adult immigrants and their families.

Thank you, Eric, for all you do for Upward Scholars and our Bay Area community. We are enormously grateful to have you on board! 💙 🧡
